Chris is discipline-based education researcher with a background in isotope geochemistry. His work with the ETX Center includes education research, which studies the ways that students learn through the adaptive digital learning experiences created by the Center, as well as educational evaluation, which allows the Center to track and meet its goals with respect to learning or dissemination. Recent publications include curriculum and instruction studies of the Habitable Worlds course at ASU and of the Nilpena immersive virtual field trip. Both studies show evidence of strong learning outcomes. The latter was named the Journal of Geoscience Education’s outstanding paper for 2020.
